Welcome to the FAQ Section, where we answer most of your common questions. If you cannot find an answer to your question please contact us via Email. What is the deadline for submissions? This year, submissions for the award are to be postmarked or received by the Department of History at UCLA on October 15, 2009. What are the qualifications for a submission to be eligible for the Award? Please refer to the Qualifications Section for more information. Where do I submit my dissertation? Submissions should be sent to: Where can I get copies of previous Submissions? All dissertations are available by sending requests to: How is the winner of the Award determined? The winner is selected by the Award Evaluation Committee. Its Chair is appointed by the Chair of the UCLA History Department every year. The Chair of the evaluation committee will appoint the other committee members, preferably from UCLA faculty. If UCLA faculty is not available, faculty from other academic institutions in Southern California will be selected. When is the winner announced? There is an award ceremony each year to present the winner of the Sardar Patel Award. At that time, the Award winner is announced to the public for the first time. The recipient is notified of the Award approximately one month prior to the Award ceremony. When and where is the Award Ceremony? This years award ceremony will be held at UCLA, the date will be posted at a later date. Who were the previous Award Winners? The previous winners and excerpts from the ceremony is available in the Award Ceremony Section. How can I attend the Award Ceremony? The award ceremony and is open to the general public.
